Google Ads Setup columns provide a practical campaign-health view

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

The Google Ads Campaigns column picker’s Setup group surfaces ad, keyword and asset diagnostics, although an observer disputes that the grouping is new.

What changed

Nona Grigoryan highlighted a Setup group in the Google Ads Campaigns column picker. The group includes eligible and disapproved ads and keywords, responsive search ads, asset counts and ad strength.

Useful view, unresolved novelty

The practical value of the columns does not depend on their being new. Thomas Eccel commented on the original post that the “New” label had existed for years. That comment disputes the release framing but does not provide an exact introduction date.

The Setup group should therefore be treated as a useful account-review reference, not as a confirmed Week 40 launch. The available evidence does not establish whether every account has identical columns or why the label appeared in the highlighted interface.

Turn diagnostic counts into decisions

A saved view can reduce the chance that disapprovals, missing responsive search ads or thin asset coverage are overlooked during routine management. However, a displayed count identifies something to inspect; it does not explain a performance change, determine severity or prove that a corrective action is needed.

Editorial suggestion: build the view around decisions rather than maximum column coverage. Group columns into delivery blockers, coverage gaps and quality indicators. Assign each group an owner and a review cadence. This keeps a large table from becoming an unreadable collection of metrics with no operational response.

For example, a disapproved-ad count may prompt inspection of policy reasons, while ad strength may prompt a creative review. Those signals should not be treated as interchangeable or automatically prioritised solely because they share the Setup heading.

Account-specific use

Inspect the column picker in the relevant account, select the diagnostics that match its campaign types and save the view. Compare underlying ads, keywords and assets before making changes from an aggregate number.

Record the account and date when documenting the available columns. That provides a more reliable internal reference than assuming the observed interface is universal or recently introduced.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Focused diagnostic visibility can surface implementation issues before they persist. The Setup grouping is useful for routine reviews even though its introduction date and novelty remain unresolved.

What to check next

  • Inspect the Campaigns column picker and record which Setup diagnostics are available in the account.
  • Save a focused view that separates delivery blockers, coverage gaps and quality indicators.
  • Review the underlying ads, keywords or assets before acting on aggregate counts.
