ChatGPT ad observations show a borderless unit and a new Learn more treatment

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Juozas Kaziukėnas shared a ChatGPT ad layout without the previous surrounding border. SERP Alert separately documented a Learn more link with an arrow and dotted underline. These are presentation observations rather than an announced format rollout. Keep paid destinations consistently tagged so you can distinguish ad traffic from organic ChatGPT referrals; the visual change alone does not alter how an analytics platform classifies a visit.

What changed

Juozas Kaziukėnas has shared what he describes as a fourth observed iteration of ads in ChatGPT, comparing four layouts in his comparison image.

In the latest example, an Ikon Pass advertisement appears without the more visible border shown around earlier examples. The image still includes an “Ad” badge at the right and a “Learn more” link. Kaziukėnas’s post says he has only seen ads below the conversation and argues that the newer presentation could blend more easily into a conversation.

The visual evidence supports a comparison of the four displayed layouts and the absence of a visible border in the fourth example. It does not establish why the interface changed, whether the layout is a test, which users or markets can see it, or whether it will remain in place. It also provides no data on click-through rates, user response or advertiser performance.

The prospect of ads appearing mid-conversation is speculation in the original post, not an observed product fact in the evidence reviewed. Reporting should retain that distinction: his post describes the example as appearing below the conversation, while the suggestion about future placement is Kaziukėnas’s interpretation.

The newsletter dates the report to 19 October, and no official OpenAI announcement or product documentation is included here. This is an interface observation credited to Kaziukėnas, rather than confirmation of a broader advertising-product rollout.

Week 43 source and practical context

Keep the layout report distinct from the separate Learn more link observation. Both can be relevant to how an ad is perceived, but neither establishes a change to the analytics parameters on its destination URL. Verify campaign tagging directly rather than inferring it from the visual border.
