Google’s English Demand Gen guidance describes cost adjustments for up to 60 days
Google’s English-language help page describes performance-based cost adjustments for eligible Demand Gen campaigns using target CPA or target ROAS. The beta can reduce a campaign’s final cost during its initial learning period when conversion performance falls below the system’s prediction. Eligibility is conditional; meeting baseline requirements does not guarantee an adjustment.

What changed
The English page says an eligible adjustment can activate within five days of campaign start and remain in effect for up to 60 days, or until the relevant duration or adjustment limit is reached. However, the UK-English version still said up to three weeks when PMC checked on 18 October. That discrepancy is material. It supports a report about the current documentation, not a settled claim that a worldwide extension launched on a particular day.
Google says adjustments are reflected in final reported cost rather than a separate credit, line item or notification. Reporting can take up to five days to reflect them. An advertiser therefore should not expect a clearly labelled refund entry as proof that the mechanism has applied.
PMC’s practical recommendation is to treat this as an account-specific clarification before using it in a budget forecast. Record the campaign start date, bidding strategy and documentation version consulted. Ask the relevant Google contact to confirm the applicable duration and eligibility where the two language versions leave the answer unclear.
Do not raise a target or budget simply because a possible adjustment is described. A conditional cost mechanism is not a guarantee that a campaign will reach the advertiser’s commercial target. Evaluate qualified conversions or revenue against the same business objective used before the test, and preserve the settings and reporting dates needed for a fair comparison.
For reconciliation, allow for reporting delay and compare the final campaign cost for the same period across reports. Keep the account discussion and the documentation discrepancy in the change log. This article uses 18 October as the verification date; the original release date and the date of the 60-day wording change remain unconfirmed.
