Google Ads switches reach metrics to "Total Co-view" from 2 June
Google has confirmed the Google Ads API will move reach metrics to a "Total Co-view" definition starting 2 June 2026. The change aligns Google Ads reporting with offline media and third-party measurement standards across the API, UI, and Editor.

What changed
Video view metrics will now count everyone who viewed an ad on connected TV devices, including multiple people watching YouTube together on the same screen.
The change affects campaign-level reach metrics, including unique users, average impression frequency per user, and the unique-users-N-plus series. No code or API version migration is required: it is a data definition change applied automatically: but reported reach and frequency values will shift for dates from the launch onward.
Why it matters for advertisers
For you, this means measurement teams should update dashboards and internal documentation to reflect the new methodology before the reach and frequency figures change. Worth flagging to anyone comparing pre- and post-2 June reach data, since the definitional shift will look like a data discontinuity if it isn't expected.
