What changed

Arpan Banerjee shared a mobile Google result for “leather duffle bags for men” on 1 October 2026. In the screenshot, the Sponsored Products carousel displays product titles, prices and merchant details without visible product images. The query and the New York location are visible, along with shopping links and calls to action.

What the screenshot establishes

This is a single observed result. It establishes how that result appeared when it was captured, but it does not establish why the images were absent. A format experiment, an image-loading issue or another rendering condition could produce different explanations for a similar appearance. No wider rollout or official Google confirmation is established by the evidence reviewed.

Arpan receives first-contributor credit for the original observation identified in the sources reviewed. This is not a claim that nobody had encountered a similar result before. The screenshot is the evidence for the observation; it is not evidence of improved engagement, lower costs or a change to Shopping feed requirements.

How to investigate a repeat sighting

If you encounter the same layout, record the exact query, device, date and visible location. Take a screenshot before refreshing, then repeat the search and note whether product images return. Keep the first capture alongside the repeat result so a temporary state is not mistaken for persistent behaviour.

A useful observation log separates what was visible from possible explanations. For example, “three sponsored cards showed text and prices without images” describes the result. “Google has launched text-only Shopping ads” would add a conclusion that this evidence cannot support. If more examples appear, compare their circumstances before treating them as the same event.

Implications for campaign teams

The practical next step is observation, not a feed or campaign overhaul. Product titles, prices and merchant details remain visible in this particular capture, making it a useful prompt to check that those fields are clear and accurate. There is no evidence here that advertisers should remove product images, change creative specifications or expect the layout in every search.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Creative and feed teams can use the observation as a resilience prompt: product titles, prices and offer details may need to communicate value even when imagery is unavailable or delayed. It is not evidence that image-less cards are intentional, widespread, or commercially preferable.

What to check next

  • Check live Shopping results across relevant devices, markets and queries before drawing implementation conclusions.
  • Audit titles, prices and promotion data for clarity independent of product imagery.
  • Do not attribute performance changes to this observation without controlled evidence and confirmed product behavior.
