UAE cryptocurrency and Colombian lottery policies took effect on 21 October

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Two country-specific Google Ads policy changes took effect on 21 October 2026. The UAE notice covers permitted licensing authorities for cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets, and for contracts for difference or rolling spot forex. The separate Colombia notice permits online lottery advertising by operators authorised by CNJSA, subject to Google certification. Both notices were published earlier in October.

What changed

What this means in practice

These are separate country-specific changes. The UAE notice concerns financial-product advertising categories and their licensing requirements; the Colombia notice concerns authorised online lottery operators. An advertiser should assess the relevant destination country and product category rather than treating the shared effective date as one global relaxation.

For operational planning, separate regulatory authorisation from Google certification. A licence or authorisation is evidence used in a platform process, not proof that a particular ad will automatically be approved. Check the current application requirements, business identity and campaign destinations against the applicable official notice.

The Colombia notice was posted on 5 October and names 21 October as its effective date. This article is a reminder about the effective date, not a claim that the policy was first announced that day. Any warning provision should be read in the policy to which it belongs; it is not a general grace period for every account, product or enforcement action. Keep the approval documentation and account notices with the campaign record.

The two official policy notices are linked separately below so the licensing bodies and the lottery authorisation can be checked against the correct country. The shared date is an enforcement milestone; it should not replace the earlier notice date in a compliance record or imply that certification has already been granted.
