What changed

A Google email shared by Arpan Banerjee on 2 October 2026 says that, from 12 October, Google Ads will automatically identify promotions such as coupons and deals on advertisers’ websites and apply them to eligible campaigns. The email limits this to Search and Performance Max campaigns with linked location assets that do not already have promotion assets attached.

What changes from 12 October

The email describes automatic opt-in and an account-level opt-out. Advertisers should distinguish this automated extraction from manually creating a promotion asset for a selected offer. Eligibility is conditional; the evidence does not establish that every account or campaign will receive the assets on the same day.

Google Ads Help documents the capability but does not provide the 12 October date. That timing comes from the email in Arpan’s screenshot. The capability was covered previously, including in Week 36, so this is an implementation reminder rather than a claim that automated promotions were first discovered this week.

Review website offers before the start

Editorial suggestion: check pages containing coupons, sale prices and time-limited deals. Confirm that offer terms, expiry dates, participating locations and any eligibility restrictions are clear and current. Identify who owns each offer so unintended ad messaging can be investigated against the page Google used.

An old coupon still visible on a public page is a different problem from a current offer with unclear conditions. Fix the underlying website issue rather than relying on an account setting to keep inaccurate material out of view. This is a practical review workflow, not a prediction that Google will extract every offer it finds.

Opt-out and reporting

The email directs advertisers to account-level automated assets settings, where Automated Promotions can be turned off. Review the setting in the relevant account and decide whether the automatic approach fits the way website offers are maintained.

Once assets serve, the email says they can be reviewed under Assets. It also notes that assets with zero impressions will not appear. Record the opt-out decision and assign someone to compare serving promotion assets with the live offer and its terms after the planned start.

Attribution correction

Arpan’s post includes the Google email and was published at 06:01 UTC on 2 October, before the Natasha Kaurra post previously cited at 15:52 UTC that day. Arpan is credited for this supporting account observation. That chronology does not establish first-ever discovery of automated promotions; earlier coverage remains linked.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

Automatically extracted offers can alter ad messaging without the usual manual asset workflow. Website hygiene, ownership of offer terms and a deliberate opt-out decision are important before the planned 12 October start.

What to check next

  • Audit coupon, sale and deal pages for expiry dates, regional limits and complete terms.
  • Check the account-level automated-assets advanced settings before 12 October and record the decision.
  • Assign an owner to review any automatically created promotion against its live landing page.

Google documents automated promotion assets for Search and Performance Max

Google Ads can extract current offers from landing pages and attach automated promotion assets to eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns with location assets. Campaigns already using manual promotions are excluded, and each extracted offer remains eligible for less than 24 hours before it must be verified again. For you, this means reviewing the account-level automation setting and keeping website offers accurate before relying on these assets to communicate deals.
