Automatic dataset connection observed enabled in Meta Events Manager
Dario Zannoni found Automatic dataset connection enabled in one Meta account he manages. His screenshot says a free Conversions API connection has been enabled and can be opted out of in Events Manager settings.

What changed
The shared screenshot shows the Automatic dataset connection toggle set to On. The accompanying interface message says the setting applies to that dataset and describes a free Conversions API connection based on the existing pixel setup. It also says advertisers can opt out at any time through Events Manager settings.
Zannoni reports discovering the setting during a routine account check. He could not find an email notification, while explicitly acknowledging that he may have missed one. The evidence supports the displayed state and the wording of the message in that account. It does not independently establish when the setting changed, its previous state, who or what triggered it, or whether other accounts received the same treatment.
The operational issue is measurement governance. An advertiser may already have a documented pixel and server-side measurement setup, with named owners responsible for changes. Finding another active connection is a reason to reconcile the configuration with that record. It is not, by itself, proof of duplicate conversion events, a consent failure or a legal violation.
For a comparable account, review the dataset’s Settings and record the state of the connection before changing anything. Check the relevant event sources and diagnostics against the existing implementation, and involve the person responsible for measurement and consent. If two routes appear to send the same events, verify their configuration and deduplication rather than assuming they are either harmless or necessarily double-counted.
The notice’s performance language should also be treated carefully. The displayed interface cites a reduction in cost per result for advertisers using Conversions API with the Meta Pixel. The screenshot does not provide the full study methodology, and that claim is not a measured outcome from Zannoni’s account or a guarantee for other advertisers.
This remains a single-account observation, credited to Dario Zannoni. No universal activation deadline, account-eligibility rule or exact original post date has been verified. The visible opt-out is useful account evidence; wider availability and the mechanism behind activation remain unresolved.
