Google updates its list of advertising self-regulatory codes
Google’s 22 September notice adds references to codes in Argentina, Australia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay and South Africa. It reiterates that advertisers must comply with applicable local requirements.

What changed
This is a targeted documentation update, not evidence of a new global enforcement programme. Teams serving those markets should review the relevant references with their local compliance owner.
Maintain a market-specific review record with the responsible policy or legal owner. Compare the named codes with the claims, targeting and creative already in use, then identify any changes that require a separate approval. Do not infer that a revised reference list gives previously restricted advertising new permission.
Advertising standards can be maintained by different organizations from the platform that distributes the ad. A reference added to Google’s policy information can therefore be useful as a pointer to the applicable local framework, but it does not compress all relevant restrictions into the Google help page. The product category and the country where the audience sees the ad remain essential context.
The practical output is a record of which campaigns need a review, which claims require substantiation and who owns the decision. Keep the source version and review date so a later policy change can be distinguished from an older decision. Where the business operates in several markets, avoid copying the conclusion from one country to another. The update is a reason to inspect the references relevant to the campaign, not evidence that every campaign needs the same creative or targeting change.
Why it matters for advertisers
A platform policy reference helps teams identify which local standards may apply. It is not a substitute for checking the rules governing the actual product, audience and country in a campaign.
