Google Ads API v25.2 adds Performance Max tracking and travel reporting fields

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Google’s 23 September API release adds asset-group URL tracking, configurable video crawling for Performance Max and new hotel reporting fields. Integration owners need to review the fields relevant to their workflows.

What changed

Asset groups gain tracking templates, custom URL parameters and final URL suffixes. This gives teams using the API a more specific place to configure landing-page tracking for Performance Max. Review existing tracking conventions before adding parameters so the resulting URLs remain consistent with measurement requirements.

The release also exposes automated video crawl settings for Performance Max. Each configured entry identifies a crawl URL, its source platform and whether it is enabled. The available source categories include landing pages, social sources and YouTube. Read these as API configuration capabilities, not evidence that an existing campaign has opted in.

For teams converting Smart campaigns, a new operation can generate a Performance Max draft. Google documents the generated campaign as paused and incomplete. A validation-only option reports conversion issues without creating the draft. Enabling the Business Profile or image options is not supported by this operation yet.

Reporting additions include hotel itinerary dimensions and travel metrics, such as booking-window and stay-length segments, booking value and price comparisons. Check the documented selectable resources before changing a reporting query; a field appearing in the release notes does not make every combination valid.

Other additions include conditional competitive percentile metrics and recommendations to raise target CPA or lower target ROAS when Search bids are too low. A recommendation is an input for review, not a reason to relax profitability targets automatically. Google describes this as a minor release without breaking changes; PMC has not executed or certified an integration against it.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

The practical value depends on which workflows your integration owns. Prioritise tracking and reporting gaps, then validate the specific requests and expected outputs before changing production configuration.

What to check next

  • Check whether asset-group tracking or hotel reporting addresses an existing requirement.
  • Review the v25.2 field definitions and client support with the integration owner.
  • Validate a scoped change before applying it to live campaign settings.
