Google Ads · Status at source date: Account observation

Conversion action statuses get icons

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Jhony Ruiz shared an observation of visual status icons in Google Ads conversion tracking. The example highlights an hourglass beside the Awaiting conversions status, making the state easier to scan in the conversion-action table.

What changed

The evidence is an interface observation, not confirmation of a new tracking method or a change to how conversions are counted. The original post does not establish when every account received the icons, and the screenshot alone cannot establish global availability.

Ruiz's practical point is that a conversion action without recent results does not automatically mean its implementation is broken. A status indicator is a starting point for investigation, rather than a diagnosis of the cause.

When checking an action, review its intended trigger, recent traffic, implementation and reporting delay together. A correctly configured action may have no recent qualifying events; an action with activity may still measure the wrong business outcome. Those are different problems and need different evidence.

For teams managing many conversion actions, a clearer table may help prioritise review. It should not replace the underlying validation of what each action measures. This report is separate from the earlier redesign of Google's conversion recommendations page and preserves the uncertainty around the original publication and rollout dates.

When checking conversion health, rely on the status text and the underlying diagnostic information as well as the icon. An hourglass or another visual change does not establish that a tag stopped firing or that conversion data was lost. Compare the same conversion action before and after the interface change and inspect recent activity, setup and diagnostics if performance looks different. Save the account context with any screenshot so colleagues can distinguish a visual update from a measurement issue that needs investigation.
