Vehicle inventory now surfaced inside Search text ads

Written by Paid Media Collective
IN BRIEF

Google Ads has launched vehicle feeds on Search ads, allowing automotive advertisers to enrich their existing Search text ads with live inventory data from their Google Merchant Centre vehicle feed. The integration surfaces car make, model, price, and imagery alongside standard ad components: without requiring separate campaigns or targeting setups.

What changed

When a user searches for a query matching the advertiser's targeting, Google's system dynamically selects relevant vehicles from the feed based on intent, device, and ad position. Clicks on vehicle offers are charged at the same CPC as the ad headline, with a cap of two charges per impression. Advertisers who want to opt a specific campaign out can do so under Settings > Merchant Centre.

The feature is currently limited to the United States. Performance data is available via the "Click type" segment, with a dedicated "Vehicle asset" row. Unlike Vehicle Ads: which appear in a standalone Shopping carousel via PMax: this format functions as an asset enhancement to standard Search campaigns, meaning it will inherit the ad rank dynamics of Search rather than Shopping.

THE COLLECTIVE PERSPECTIVE

Why it matters for advertisers

For you, this means automotive advertisers can surface inventory more prominently without building separate campaigns, but should monitor click-type data closely to separate vehicle asset clicks from headline clicks.
