Google documents AI review summaries in Search ads for four markets

A new help page describes AI-generated review summaries that can appear with Search ads in the US, the UK, Australia and India in English, on all devices and positions, across verticals except sensitive ones such as pharmaceuticals. The summaries are positive-only, cannot be edited by the advertiser, show only when Google predicts they will improve performance, and the page describes no opt-out. Sachin Patel reported the test in September. Review language you did not write may sit beside your ad, so keep your rated reviews current in Merchant Center and third-party sources.

Demand Gen accepts HTML5 ads, but serves them only on the Display Network

The HTML5 help page now says HTML5 ads can be connected to Demand Gen campaigns, where they serve exclusively on the Google Display Network and not on YouTube, Discover, Maps or Gmail. The upload eligibility rules are unchanged: an account older than 90 days with more than $9,000 lifetime spend and a good policy history, or an application with more than $1,000 spend under extra criteria. Rich-media creative can join Demand Gen without reaching its video surfaces, so weigh that against the extra production cost.
